Kings
There are a few variations of the game and this is ours. All you need is a deck of cards and plenty of beer...
Ace - Waterfall. Whoever pulls the card starts drinking; the next player to the left must immediately start drinking and so on around the table. You can only stop when the person on your right stops. The person who pulled the card is the first to choose when to stop.
Red Two - Drink two fingers
Black Two - Nominate someone for two fingers
Red Three - Person on your left to do two fingers
Black Three - person on your right to do two fingers
Four – Thumbmaster - Person who pulls the card can at anytime during the game put either left or right thumb on the edge of the table, (it must be clearly visible by all). The last person to copy with the correct thumb loses. Penalty 2 fingers.
Five – Chugalug. A number game that starts with the cardholder saying either “one to my left” or “one to my right” the next player then says two and so on around the table. When a number is reached that divides by either 5 or 7 then the player must say, “chugalug” instead of the number, at this stage the order reverses the other way around the table.
E.g. 1, 2, 3, 4, chugalug, (reverse) 6, chugalug, (reverse) 8, 9 and so on. 1st player to make a mistake drinks 2 fingers.
Six - Toilet Card. Toilet card allows you to go to the toilet when you choose. Nobody is allowed to go to the toilet during the game without being in possession of the toilet card. The card can only be used once.
Seven – Reverse. Drink 2 fingers and play is reversed.
Eight - Paper, Scissor, Stone. Played between the two people either side of the cardholder. Best of three, loser does two fingers
Nine - The Rule. One of my favourites!! Make up any rule of the cardholders choice. Has to be abided by for the duration of the game. E.g. No swearing, pointing, saying the word “drink” and all derivatives etc. 2 finger penalty for each offence.
Ten - The Rule. Rule card again.. Refer to Nine
Jack – Get out of Jail Free. Exactly what it says on the tin. Can be used only once to get you out of any game or forfeit within each game of Kings. Beware! This card can be stolen when it is not in your pocket.
Queen - Question Card. The cardholder keeps the card in front of him on the table face up. The idea is to ask a question whilst touching the card. It can be absolutely anything such as what is the time but they must be in contact with the card when they say it. If the person who was asked the question gives a proper response they have to neck their drink. Alternatively if they realise and say 'fuck off' the person who asked the question has to neck theirs. Good fun this one!
Kings - Last king necks it. Pull the 1st 2nd or 3rd king with no forfeit. You pull the last king you neck the remainder of the drink in front of you. No questions asked. 4th king also denotes the end of the game with all feature cards returned.
Croatian Rummy
All 52 cards plus the 2 jokers are used.
A dealer is chosen and deals to all players in a clockwise directon, dealing 7 cards to each player plus an eigth card to the player left of the dealer.
The player left of the dealer with 8 cards goes 1st discarding a card to the middle.
The object of the game is to make 3 or 4 of a kind (e.g. 3 queens) or a run of 3 or more cards (must be the same suit and in order e.g. 6, 7 and 8 of hearts).
Aces can be used either as a 1 as in A, 2, 3 or J, Q, K, A.
Discarded cards are placed in the middle and face up in a line.
When it is your turn you can either pick up the end card of the discarded line or the top card of the pack. After picking up you try to make runs or 3/4 of a kind then its up to you to either lay down your sets or hang on to them to bluff others into thinking you have nothing.
You can pick up more cards from the discarded line but which ever card you start from you must also take all those in front of it. When taking more than one card, the card you start from must be part of a set that you are laying down.
There are also 2 jokers mixed in the pack. The jokers are wild cards so they can be used as anything.
Providing you have at least one set down in front of you, you can take a joker that someone has used as long as you replace it with the correct card it was used as.
During the game on your turn, if a card becomes available that adds to a set you have layed, you can add it to your set.
A player completes a round of rummy by having sets of cards layed in front of him while also having one card left to discard in the middle.
Scoring
Minus points are scored by adding up all the remaining cards in your hand.
Plus points are scored by adding up all the sets that you have previously layed in front of you.
Cards 2 through to 10 are scored by face value.
All picture cards score 10, Aces score 15.
A joker played on the table as part of a set is worth 0 points but an unplayed joker in the hand is -30pts.
First player to score 500 points is the winner.
Forfeits
When a player completes rummy all other players must drink 2 fingers
Every time a joker is layed as part of a set, all but the player laying it must do 2 fingers.
When taking a joker from a set replacing it with the correct card, the player whose set it was taken from must drink 2 fingers.
If you are caught with a joker in your hand when someone completes rummy you must drink 2 fingers.
When a player wins the whole game with 500pts the rest of the players must finish all their drink regardless of how much.
